Piporé Traditional is a classic Argentinian yerba mate that has been perfecting the art of balance for decades. With its signature notes of caramel and toffee, this soft, even-handed mate shows beautifully both hot and cold. It is the dependable choice that never disappoints.
What does Pipore Traditional taste like?
Piporé Traditional tastes like a refined blend of sweet caramel and toffee, with underlying notes of green and black tea. The aroma recalls dried plum and toasted sunflower seeds, with subtle grassy and floral hints that develop further with every refill. Despite its light appearance and generous proportion of stems, the flavour keeps a pleasant body across multiple infusions without turning watery.
About the producer
Piporé is produced by the Productores de Yerba Mate de Santo Pipó, a cooperative founded in 1930 by Swiss immigrants in the Argentinian province of Misiones. The brand earned its reputation as "the dependable yerba" by holding a remarkably consistent flavour from batch to batch and offering a clean, soft finish with no harsh astringency.
How do you drink Pipore Traditional?
Prepare Piporé Traditional with water at 65-70°C for optimal flavour balance. Fill your gourd about three quarters with the yerba mate, set your bombilla at an angle against one side and add water gradually as you drink. The generous proportion of stems makes clogging less of an issue and keeps the yerba nicely in shape, while you can count on a consistent flavour even after several refills.
Playadito Despalada is a premium stem-free version that delivers deeper complexity than the Traditional. This refined variant removes most stems through mechanical sifting, concentrating the flavor into a more sophisticated blend ideal for experienced mate drinkers seeking earthy depth without excessive sweetness.
What does Playadito Despalada taste like?
Playadito Despalada tastes richer and more complex than the Traditional, with less floral sweetness and more prominent molasses-like and caramel undertones. The flavor profile features subtle honey and toffee notes balanced with distinct caramel and nut flavors that create a full-bodied experience. While still smooth, it offers more intensity and earthiness than the honey-forward Traditional, making it ideal for those who appreciate concentrated leaf flavor with genuine depth rather than pure sweetness.
About the manufacturer
Despalada products come from the same Cooperativa Agrícola de la Colonia Liebig that has been producing Playadito since 1979. The cooperative's commitment to quality includes careful leaf selection and additional mechanical processing to ensure consistent stem removal below 5%. The 12-month aging process develops the characteristic richness and balance that sets Despalada apart, maintaining the cooperative's reputation for excellence across its entire product line.
How do you prepare Playadito Despalada?
Playadito Despalada is prepared identically to traditional Argentine mate: fill your gourd about two-thirds with the loose yerba, pour hot water (70-80°C), insert the bombilla, and enjoy!
Playadito Traditional is a soft, naturally sweet yerba mate from the heritage-rich Argentinian Cooperativa Liebig. With nearly a century of cooperative expertise behind it, this classic blend delivers an exceptionally balanced profile that is perfect for anyone new to mate or looking for an approachable, calming experience.
What does Playadito Traditional taste like?
Playadito Traditional tastes remarkably sweet and mild for a yerba mate, with clear notes of honey, sugar cane and subtle undertones of sweet tobacco. The flavour profile is soft and naturally gentle, with refined floral nuances reminiscent of green tea, woody tones and a clean finish without sharpness. Despite the soft sweetness it never feels artificial or overly sugary; the flavour comes straight from the plant itself, thanks to traditional processing and a minimum of 12 months of ageing.

Rosamonte's stemless variant: powerful, energetic and surprisingly balanced despite the sin palo profile. Long ageing (12-18 months) combined with coarsely milled leaf creates something unusual: it tastes more approachable than typical sin palo mates, yet delivers real energy and character. This is your morning mate.
What does Rosamonte Despalada taste like?
Rosamonte Despalada tastes surprisingly approachable for a sin palo version: quite unusual for Argentinian yerba mate, with an oily aroma reminiscent of extra virgin olive oil, bitter-savoury notes and earthy, plummy undertones with minimal smokiness despite the barbacuá drying. The flavour profile is nicely balanced between bitter and sweet, with notes of olive oil, a touch of tobacco, black tea and subtle herbal and woody nuances. The powerful but pleasant bitterness is well balanced by sweetness, giving a relatively straightforward mate with a quick finish that invites a brisk drinking pace.
About the producer
Rosamonte Despalada is produced using Rosamonte's signature barbacuá drying method, followed by 12-18 months of ageing, which develops complexity while softening the sharpness. The coarse mill is a typical Rosamonte trait, and despite a leaf content above 90%, the long ageing and careful production deliver a balanced flavour rather than pure intensity. The company's modern facilities and quality laboratory guarantee consistent results from batch to batch, while the focus on seedling selection and optimal growing conditions ensures superior plants from the very start.
How do you drink Rosamonte Despalada?
Fill your gourd about two thirds with Rosamonte Despalada, tilt it and add lukewarm water down the sloped side. Then add hot water at 70-75°C (temperature control is essential; precision gives the best flavour balance and the longest session). Refill with hot water; you will get 20-25 refills with energetic flavour. The flavours develop less dramatically over the session, but the consistent quality and the perfect morning energy make this variety more than worth it.
Rosamonte's organic variant: a naturally energising experience in a handy resealable doypack, ideal for everyday mate drinkers looking for quality, convenience and organic certification. The taste is powerful and soft at once, with a mild bitterness — exactly the character Rosamonte is known for, but in an organically certified version, grown without chemicals or pesticides. The flavour profile stays true to the brand's commitment to a deep, balanced and complex taste, developed through careful processing and ageing.
About the producer

The combination of a commitment to quality and organic farming practices results in a product that appeals to health-conscious consumers and traditional mate lovers alike.

What does Rosamonte Suave taste like?
Rosamonte Suave has a softer flavour profile, but keeps the bitter complexity and smoky character you expect from Rosamonte. The whole experience is milder and more approachable for newcomers, while keeping that unmistakable Rosamonte DNA.

Rosamonte Suave is made using Rosamonte's signature barbacuá drying method, combined with an exclusive selection of raw material that develops its characteristic intense flavour profile during storage and ageing. How do you drink Rosamonte Suave?

The classic expression of Rosamonte: a highly balanced, deep classic Argentinian mate flavour that comes from 12 months of ageing. Powerful without being harsh, complex without being overwhelming — Rosamonte Tradicional is the choice for experienced drinkers who value authentic smoky character and traditional Argentinian culture.
What does Rosamonte Tradicional taste like?
Rosamonte Tradicional has a highly balanced, deep classic Argentinian mate flavour, with a moderately sharp and dusty aroma carrying strong natural notes of dry wood, hay and a lightly sour character. The first impression can surprise newcomers, but once your palate adjusts, this mate reveals soft and sweet opening notes, a light pleasant bitterness, fitting fresh-sour nuances and a smoky, woody character reminiscent of black tea and dough.
About the producer
Rosamonte Tradicional is produced using the barbacuá method, the oldest traditional drying technique for yerba mate, used by the Guaraní people, in which the leaves are exposed to the heat of a wood fire for 12-24 hours — the source of that characteristic smoky flavour. Rosamonte was founded in 1936 by Demetrio Hreñuk and today runs one of the most modern drying facilities in the industry, with an advanced quality laboratory and mechanised production that ensure consistent quality.
How do you drink Rosamonte Tradicional?
Fill your gourd about two thirds to three quarters with Rosamonte Tradicional, tilt it and add lukewarm water down the sloped side. Then add hot water at around 70°C to bring out the deep, balanced flavour at its best. You can count on roughly 15 refills before the mate loses its flavour.

Sara Azul Extra Suave is the modern, refined counterpart to Sara Roja, introduced in 1998 to meet changing tastes. The extra fine mill gives a soft and delicate profile in which new flavour nuances unfold with every infusion. This one is for anyone who appreciates subtlety, evolution and a genuinely refined experience.
What does Sara Azul taste like?
Sara Azul tastes soft, delicate and layered, a real chameleon that shows new notes with every infusion. The profile is pure and fresh, with subtle nutty undertones and a grassy base. At lower temperatures it turns more syrupy, doughy and malty, with a velvety mouthfeel and nuances of cocoa. The complexity builds gradually rather than arriving all at once.
About the producer

This is yerba mate for those who want their flavouring to have layers and depth.
What does Taragui Citricos taste like?

Orange, mandarin and grapefruit work together to create a refreshing, harmonious flavour profile that is both complex and balanced. The triple citrus blend combines lively freshness with the earthy, traditional mate base, delivering something that feels refined without being overly perfumed. It is citrus that enhances what makes Taragui special, rather than masking it.
About the manufacturer
Taragui Cítricos is part of Las Marías' “Flavours of the World” series, which blends yerba from different regions of Argentina and from different harvest periods for maximum complexity.
